- Description
- Belt conveyors are used extensively in the mining and mineral processing industries to transport bulk solid. As industry demands arise and conveying technology improves, belt conveyor installations are becoming progressively longer and belt speeds significantly faster. With longer conveying distances it becomes increasingly important to accurately calculate the motion resistances at the design stage, with the view of minimising these resistances to improve the efficiency of the installation. The motion resistances that occur along the length of the conveyor are known as the main resistances and include the belt and bulk solid flexure resistance, the rotational resistance of the idler rolls and the indentation rolling resistance of the conveyor belt.
